Formed in 2023, Midbrain Surfers is a Winnipeg, MB based quartet creating improvised music for concert and mixed media. Combining overtone/throat singing plus extended vocal techniques, slide-didgeridoo, electric oud, fretless bass, electro-acoustic percussion and electronics, their eclectic sound baths blend elements of jazz, neo-classical, world fusion, trip-hop, ambient, avant-garde and experimental music into dynamic, genre-defying, groove-driven spontaneous compositions. Live, it is not simply performance, but experiential soundscapes that evolve with the room. Add that "bespoke" touch to your event.
Live performances may include guest artists such as interpretive dancer Rachel-Anne Kosatsky, saxophonist Lewsh Shaw, guitarist Laurie McKenzie, and synesthetic painter Charlie Rae Walker.
